Mindfulness is a term that’s been around for a long time and looking after your mental health is important to creative’s as much as any other professional. So what is ‘Mindfulness’?
According the the Oxford dictionary mindfulness is:
1.the quality or state of being conscious or aware of something. "their mindfulness of the wider cinematic tradition"
2.a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.
Now, we all know we should relax and unwind and take time for ourselves but sometimes in life, it’s just HARD. I know you can relate.
Sometimes when I’m feeling stressed the last thing I want to do is some colouring sheets, since all those ‘to-do’s’ aren’t going to get done if I just sit around! BUT we must MAKE time for what’s important and own mental and emotional well being is very important. So I urge you (and myself) to take just a few minutes when you need it and just unplug from the constant demand of life and giver yourself some much needed me time. Your mind and body will thank you for it.
