CUSTOM PATTERN DESIGNS

This process is for custom surface pattern designs.

If you’re interested in licensing my work, please email me at: hello@nicolarowedesigns.com to request access to my full portfolio.

Step 1: Email info

Email me at: hello@nicolarowedesigns.com to start the initial conversation.

Include as much information as possible about the project such as:

  • Your estimated budget available for the project

  • General timescale you’re aiming for

  • Your vision / theme for the project

  • Sketches & photo references you have

  • Are the patterns needed to be in a repeat

  • Desired colour palette

  • Detailed descriptions of what type of prints you need, as well as the intended end use. For example, ‘a large scale vibrant coloured summery print for women’s dresses’

  • What products the artwork will be used on and in what markets

  • Sizing, specifications or manufacturing requirements

  • How many prints you need

Step 2: Estimate & Contract Details

After reviewing your email and project details, I’ll respond and ask for additional details if needed. Once I understand what you need, we’ll discuss rates. After we have agreed on the details including rate, deposit and timescale, I send through an estimate which serves as a service contract.

Step 3: Sketches, References & Drafts

Once all the paperwork is done and a deposit made, it’s time to create some amazing prints for you! If you already have a very strong vision for the custom artwork, I’ll begin working on sketches. If your original direction needs a little refining, then I’ll pull together some references to ensure we both have the same vision for the project.

You’ll review the initial sketches and ask for revisions as needed. I’ll then start work on the artwork first draft in full colour.

Step 4: File delivery

Once you’ve reviewed the first draft and colour palette, you can request any changes that are needed before I finalise the designs.

I then send through my invoice for the work along with a low res jpeg file. Once payment has been received, I send through the AI/ Adobe illustrator hi res files.

Yay! We’ve just created you some gorgeous art for your product line that will be irresistible for your customers!

Please note that the estimate I provide for commission work depends on many factors including, though not limited to:

  • the amount of time needed to complete the art work

  • the complexity of the artwork

  • number of prints required

  • editing of the artwork

  • which markets and how many product categories the artwork will be used for

  • how many products will be produced

  • how many countries the products will be sold in

  • copyrights usage and/or license type

  • period of license agreement

  • what promotion your company provides to me through social media channels and promotion elsewhere either online or through printed catalogs

This lists the main factors I consider when providing an estimate. As you can see, there are many variables and therefore the quote will reflect this!

I pride myself and my business on providing an exceptional professional and high quality service so both parties are happy.
