3 On-Trend Colour Palettes to Use Right Now

Using ‘on-trend’ colour palettes can be somewhat hard especially when it comes to knowing how these colours will translate into a finished product. If you’re a designer who creates designs to be printed onto fabric and you’re either working with (or hoping) to work with a fabric manufacturer, the colours you’re dreaming up now may not in fact be ‘on-trend’ by the time they hit the shops. If you’re saying “oh sh*t, what?”. Yes you read that right. Just know that while trends are good to be aware of and what customers may be looking for, don’t be a slave to trends, unless you have a way of offering your designs straightaway to customers.

Say for example that you find out rabbits are on-trend, by the time your designs or collection is picked up by a fabric manufacturer and is for sale in shops, it could be 12-18 months or longer, meaning that those rabbits are no longer on-trend!

If you create pattern designs for a POD (print-on-demand) site, then you can leverage this to your advantage, as the designs are available once you upload them. I personally, license many of my designs through POD sites and this way you can provide customers with what they’re looking for right now, without the worry that they won’t be applicable in a year’s time.
